This is a modern Greek icon of the Tranfiguration showing the Lord in great Glory and Light revealing Himself to His Disciples in a way that is not as hidden as was His daily relationship with them.

This is a traditional Greek icon from about 1600 where St. John has his right hand on Jesus' head to baptize him.  A personification of the Sea and the Jordan is seen in the water, for "the sea saw it and fled, Jordan was turned back." (Ps 113)

Christ, the Great High Priest of His Church on earth, is shown holding an open Gospel Book in His left hand and blessing with His right hand.

The Lord Almighty sits on a throne as the Ruler of the universe, and in His left hand He holds an opened Gospel. 

Painted in 1546, this mid 16th c. Cretan icon masterpiece is by the Monk Theophanes the Cretan, and is found today at Stavronikita Monastery on Mount Athos.

Possibly the greatest icon of the late Paleologian Period, which began after the Restoration of the Byzantine Empire at Constantinople with the victory of Michael VIII Paleologus (1261-1282) that ended the Latin occupation.

Several Holy Saints and righteous ones are called "quick to hear," because the Faithful have had such quick response to their prayers when in dire need.  St. George is one of these Saints.  St. George pray for us!

St. Nectarios was born in 1846 in Selevria of Thrace in Greece into a poor family.  When he was 14 he went to Constantinople to work.  While there, he worked for a tobacco merchant who underpaid him and treated him poorly, so St. Nectarios  turned to prayer for his only consolation.

Known for his charity and love, St. Nicholas was chosen to be Archbishop of Myra. The patron of sailors and children, he died on December 6, 343.

St. Demetrios was born to devout and noble parents in a.d. 270 in the city of Salonika, now Thessalonika in Greece, then part of the Roman Empire.  His father was the military governor of Salonika and a secret Christian.

The life of the glorious and angelic Forerunner as recorded in the Gospels is truly an inspiration and example to all Christians.

A part of a quite beautiful deisis or supplicating set of icons by the hand of Euphrosynos the Cretan in mid 16th c. (1542), this masterpiece of iconography still adorns the Holy Dionysiou Monastery on Mount Athos.

St. Anthony the Great, an Egyptian, was born in a.d. 250.  He was the first person in the Christian Church to live the distinctly monastic life, and became a hermit.

The Virgin is seated on an elegant marble throne with the Lord of Lords seated on her lap blessing all of the Faithful. 

This is one of the many icons painted in the mid-16th century by the master iconographer Theophanes the Cretan at Stavro-nikita Monastery on the Holy Mountain of Athos.

The Mother of God is enthroned in the center of this famous icon, holding her Divine Son.    Beside her, as if guarding her with honor, are the soldiers Saints Theodore (on the left) and George (on the right).

The most humble Handmaiden of the Lord, the Virgin Mary, is shown the greatest honor in this icon by placing her on a throne with her Son and God.
