The Holy Nativity of Christ
There is a vibrant expectation that begins to swell throughout all of Creation when the Lord of Life and Icon of Love, the God-Man Jesus Christ, “by Whom all things were made” draws near to the manifest and most intimate relationship with this world as He comes to Bethlehem to be born as a little child. This is a celebration to all, this is a triumph of hope, this is a symphony of praise from the throats of all who can join chorus and sing with the Angels above, “Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” We too can come with the shepherds with haste to “see this thing which has come to pass, which the Lord has made manifest to us.” The utterly Other, the completely Immutable, the totally Unapproachable, that which is beyond thought and mind is now accessible and close. The great gulf which divided man from God through sin is now bridged by this little child, Who was God before the Ages. The Nativity of Christ is an invitation to reach out, to touch, to handle, and to love personally, directly, immediately, and intimately the very God Who loved us from the beginning. May we all with ardent love and the most tender care reach out to Him today!
