Egg outer shaped piece - 13"H x 9 1/8"W
Cross cut out - 10 1/4"H x 7 3/4"W

Here is a distinctive, unique, and bright pair of Brass Decorative Crosses that perfectly complement each other made out of sturdy solid 1/16” thick brass and that come with a finish to keep the colors bright and resistant to discoloration due to handling or age.  They are locally produced by a dear neighbor of the Skete after much collaborative design work with us, and they can be hung on a wall or from a wire by the small holes pre-drilled.

The egg outer shaped piece brings to mind the active connection between the Lord’s suffering and death on the Cross and an ancient symbol of the Resurrection.  Holy Tradition teaches us that St. Mary Magdalene after Christ’s Resurrection brought the gift of a white egg as a symbol of the Resurrection to the Roman Emperor Tiberius.  When she proclaimed to him “Christ is Risen!” the egg miraculously turned red in her hand before everyone present.  This is the source of the red eggs exchanged at Pascha, or Easter.   There is a wonderful and famous large wall mural behind and above the iconostasis in St. Mary Magdalene’s Russian Orthodox Church in the Garden of Gethsemane depicting this event.  To see a picture of the church interior, please click on the following link:
